This article is incredibly interesting and I commend the Zak’s for all the hard work in the attempt to create an ethical diamond source. In regards to all of the other diamond retailers, is there any real way to be 100% sure that their diamonds are ‘conflict-free’ and also do not violate any human rights? Also, what percentage of diamond distributors are operating with unethical standards? It seems as though it would be an incredibly difficult number to get. Hopefully the industry will follow in the Zak’s foot steps. It would be nice if one day you did not have to ask if the diamond you were about to buy was minded under ethical practices.
